Challenge Oxfordshire Launched: Now let’s get down to business and SAVE LIVES.
Jan 10th, 2011 | By Richard MacKenzie | Category: BlogI wondered for weeks what would be the best way to ‘officially launch’ Challenge Oxfordshire. Nothing came to mind, maybe because I was too focused on getting the site ready.
Then on Saturday morning it HIT me.
Let’s hit the ground running by saving lives from day one!
But I desperately NEED your help to make this happen…
Saturday morning I read in the Oxford Mail of a very special 15 month old little girl from Oxfordshire called Amber Phillpott.
Amber had been suffering from leukaemia. Things had been looking up for her, but on New Year’s Day her family’s worst fears were realised when the illness aggressively returned.
The Oxford Mail said:
“There are just weeks to find a bone marrow donor to try to save the young girl’s life.”
I spoke with Amber’s father, James, last night and he renewed his appeal to Oxfordshire to do everything we can for this precious little girl.
James said “Considering a life without Amber would be terrifying. Her only hope is a bone marrow transplant and I appeal for potential donors to come forward to help save this blossoming, wonderful, little human-being”.
This week on Challenge Oxfordshire is Amber’s Week!
Would you like to join me in trying to turn this around for both Amber and others suffering from leukaemia? Are you up to this week’s 3-step CHALLENGE?
- Go to the Anthony Nolan website to see if you are able donate bone marrow.
- Join the register to donate.
- Get everyone you know involved in this challenge. Send them an email with a link to this page.
We have a very short time frame, but I believe that Oxfordshire will pull together and do everything that it can to help little Amber.
Can we count on your to take this challenge?
If you have taken this challenge today, PLEASE let us know in the comments section below, and encourage others to follow in your footsteps.
Please also use the comments section to leave messages of support for Amber and her family at this very testing time and let them know that Oxfordshire really is behind them.
Those that can’t donate bone marrow, may want to help Antony Nolan be donating a a few quid!
So there we have it, Challenge Oxfordshire is OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED!
Let us – Be The Change! Save a life today!
Warmly,
Richard MacKenzie

Please, if you’re under 40 and over 18 do have a think about this. You could help to save the life of Amber or another person urgently in need.
And just how amazing will you feel knowing your life has made such a huge difference?
What an amazing website!
Thankyou for supporting gorgeous Amber.
all our love and prayers with our close friends.

I want to help little girl as I am member of Anthony Nolan from last 5 years. Unfortunately, I never heard back from them even once. Probably they did not find any match. I wish I will help somebody in some way. I wish and hope that little baby girl will be fine in future. All the best.
